Tim McGraw’s set list (Saturday, 8/13/2011 at JLL) (Taken with instagram)
So anyone that knows me for any amount of time know that I did not grow up a country music fan. Actually, I have avoided country music for the vast majority of my life. That said, many of my friends are country music fans and have encouraged me to expand my horizons, so to speak.
Last year my wife convinced me to purchase the Country Music Mega Ticket at JiffyLube Live Pavilion for the first time and we opted to get it this year, as well. So have I become a country music fan?  Well, the jury is still out on that one but this much I can tell you; Tim McGraw puts on one heck of a show and this year’s line-up was very entertaining. The Band Perry has a ton of potential and Luke Bryan was an all-around entertainer that will be a household name someday…you can take that one to the bank! My only complaint was that Faith Hill didn’t make an appearance :)
So, although I am not completely bought in to the country music scene, I can totally appreciate the awesome musicians and entertainers that I have had the opportunity to see these last couple years.  I am definitely looking forward to the remainder of the season, and who knows, I may become a country music fan after-all.

TSA gets quite a bit of bad press. Okay, they get a ton of it, but I want to give them props for once. I just returned from a business trip to Chicago by way of IAD (Dulles) to ORD (O’Hare) and back. My experience going through the security checkpoints at both airports was very quick, and dare I say, uneventful

Both times I was scanned by the now infamous Rapiscan Secure 1000 (pictured).

Very simple instructions:

  1. Put your feet on the blue footprints on the mat
  2. Hold your hands above your head creating the shape of a diamond
  3. Don’t move for approximately 10 seconds

That’s it. No fuss, no muss!  A total of 20 seconds of my life “wasted” (he says tongue in cheek). Inconvenient? Nope! Small price to pay while the TSA folks try to keep our airways and airports secure.

And what about those “racey” silhouettes the Rapiscan Secure 1000 is so notorious good at taking??? Didn’t see them, nor did I care to (I might be embarrassed by the fact that I need to lose of few lbs).

So to the good people at TSA, I say, keep up the good work! Don’t get too overzealous and try to inject a little common sense when interpreting the rules as it relates to children and older folks bound to wheel chairs that happen to pass through your security checkpoints. The vast majority of us really do appreciate the work you do.

The view from inside the Mars building (yes, the Mars that makes Snickers, Twix, and M&M’s) (Taken with instagram)
The Mars facility could have easily been located in Silicon Valley with the exception of the Chicago skyline in the background.  It was absolutely beautiful. That would be the former Sears Tower, now the Willis Tower, in the background.  It is still the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere standing at 1450 feet and 110 stories high (at least according to the Willis Tower website).
